SINCE 1957

Giulietta Sprint Veloce Zagato

The Giulietta Sprint Veloce, produced on May 20, 1957 and delivered on July 3, 1957. The car was in its early Azzuro nube color.

The car was delivered new to Zagato for Sergio Canara and re-bodied in SVZ at the beginning of 1958, it came out in white with the provisional registration ‘prova 60551’ then ‘173748 NA ’.

It is the only one of the small series of cars built in 1958/59 to have the double bubble roof and the door extended by ten centimeters, imposed by Cannara due to its large size of 1.93 meters.

It is then sold to Miss Rossi Célia de Salerno. The Giulietta SVZ turns red with a white stripe and its registration is then ‘173748 NA’.

1960 TO 1988

Period in Napoli

The Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Veloce Zagato was then sold to Covino Antonio on July 7, 1960, also from Napoli, then to Rossi Umberto on June 19, 1961, then, still in Napoli, to Di Avanzo Roberto, on June 26, 1963 where the car takes the registration 366291 NA. It was then acquired by Perrela Gaetano on March 9, 1968 in Napoli.

Following an accident, the car and the ticket is returned to the prefecture. Not wishing to pay the compulsory annual sticker, we have no record of the prefecture being given this title, this date is between 1968 and 1975.

At the beginning of 1976, Mr. Pier david Milesi of Bergamo acquired the damaged SVZ without a gearbox, interior or dashboard and restored it for many years. The car turns white again, it is equipped with the vintage 4-speed borg warner gearbox and a vintage engine also type 1315 with the number 30640 (certificate from Mr Milesi).

1989 TO 2006

Association Sport Italia

The Afla Romeo was sold in 1989 to Mr Gilberto Panizza (via st Martino, 46046 Médole) who repainted it in yellow with navy blue and light blue bands to enter the Squadra of the Association Sport Italia, chaired by Clay Régazoni, where she regularly runs in historic racing. In the photos she has only one red seat and she is driving around with a garage plate number “PROVA MO 361”.

In 1990, a historic technical passport (pth) by Gilberto Panizza is requested, which she obtains with the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) number 1051.

In 1993, the Alfa Romeo Giulietta SVZ obtained an ASI certification number 1070120. In 1996 it suffered a slight racing accident in Monza, where it fell on its side. It was then repainted in yellow by the ATL bodywork of Colico and found a garnet-colored tourism interior.

2007 TO 2010

Period in Japon

In 2007, she went to Japan to be sold there. On the English site of Alfa Romeo Giulietta, on December 18, 2008, she appeared in a photo, in various garages in Japan, with and without these navy blue and light adhesive tapes. We find on the car in Japan its red circles of counters and tachometer typical of this car.

She also kept her roll bar, she is announced to sell $ 180,000. On February 2, 2010 the Giuletta SVZ is registered on the Ultimate Alfa Register site in Milan.

The construction of the SVZs spanned three different series from 1956 to 1959. The total number rose to 17 copies.

 2011 TO 2014

Back to Italy

In 2011, The Giulietta SVZ returned to Italy. It lost its tourism interior for two modern racing seats. The Nardi wooden steering wheel is replaced by a smaller one in leather, the strip at the top of the doors inside becomes again Alu color, without painting.

The oil pressure warning light, attached near the oil pressure gauge, is moved to the dashboard, which is more visible to the pilot. The cooling radiator is modified to adapt a more modern expansion vessel. The original tank is replaced by a smaller, homemade polyester, in the trunk, these modifications do not appear on the ASI document, in particular the radiator and on the PTH.

It thus participates modified in various races or demonstrations in the hands of pilots of the Association Sport Italia, including a last with the number 125 on the doors. At the end of 2013, The SVZ was acquired in a batch of Italian cars by the company Mécannicimport in Belgium.

 2015 TO TODAY

Restored in France

On November 10, 2015, it was acquired by Jean-Jacques Gravier, in France. At the start of 2016, the restoration of the Giulietta started. She obtained a new FIA international THP with the number 1 10133, valid until 12/31/2028 and a FIVA authenticity sheet number 078506, valid until 12/31/2028. In 2018, the car participated in Le Mans Classic and an ASAVE race at the Bugatti circuit.

On October 10, 2005, a person named Angelo Strada from Milan asked for a regularity passport for a new car. Claiming the same number, this new built car does not look at all like the vintage photos of the original car, in particular the design of the rear fenders, the protruding rear lights and not recessed, the sliding windows instead of the rising windows well visible on vintage photos and the rear window, the lower part of which is narrower than the upper part.

The fact that she has no document of its discovery and restoration as well as its late presentation suggests a replica not very faithful to the original. It was sold in 2007 to an American couple, who, since contacted, put the car back on sale in Spain.
